The Most Believable iPhone 14 Rumours

Details about Apple’s September event have always been kept under wraps by officials until the moment Tim Cook steps on stage, but industry’s gurus and analysts have shared their thoughts on how the iPhone 14 series will look like, what upgrades and refinements they will bring and most importantly how much it will cost to get one of iPhone 14 models.

Key changes to the iPhone 14 lineup

The biggest news in our opinion is that there will be a more distinct separation between the Pro and base models of the iPhone 14 in terms of looks and specifications, the most notable differences being in processors. The newest A16 Bionic will be exclusive to Pro and Pro Max models, whereas last year’s A15 will power iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max variants. It is also rumoured that Pro models will be pricier to justify the upgrades.

The front of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will bring a new design for the first time since the iPhone X released in 2017. We’ve heard that the Pro models will be ditching the notch and the FaceID hardware and front camera will be housed in a pill-shaped and hole-punch cutout combination.

Talking about iPhone 14 sizes, Apple is rumoured to drop the 5.4-inch model known as the Mini variant due to poor sales of the smaller-sized iPhone. The entire focus of the lineup will be on 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch models.

What Do We Know About iPhone 14 Design, Camera and Battery Life So Far?

While non-pro iPhone 14 models will carry on with the controversial notch design, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will finally adopt a more modern look with two cutouts appearing on the front of the phone. It is yet to be confirmed, but it might be the case that some of Face ID technology will be hidden under the display with the dot projector housed in a circular hole-punch cutout. The rest of the hardware and the front camera will be located in a pill-shaped cutout.

It is also a possibility that the bodies of Pro models will be made out of titanium, while iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will keep the stainless steel frame. Apart from the above changes to the designs, we are expecting rear camera bumps to become thicker which is likely to disappoint upgraders. Another Pro models exclusive might be the Always-On displays which will be introduced to iPhones for the first time.

Speaking of cameras, the entire lineup will feature improvements to the rear camera hardware with the ultra wide lens receiving a boost. The Pro models are rumoured to get a 48MP main camera and be capable of 8K video recording. Apple might add a periscope lens which will offer a better optical zoom, however there’s no clear indication whether this new lens will come with 2022 models. The front-facing camera is anticipated to receive the biggest upgrade in years. This will potentially include auto-focus and a larger f/1.9 aperture.

Rumours suggest that the iPhone 14 lineup could get slightly bigger battery cells. Although the increases are marginal, we’re confident that the new processor will deliver better battery life management and this improvement will be noticeable across the 2022 iPhone lineup. Charging speeds are set to increase as well, with iPhone 14 models being able to charge faster with up to 30W wired charging.

iPhone 14 Release Date and Pricing Details

There’s no doubt that the iPhone 14 series will be released in September 2022. However the announcement event date is speculated to be on a Tuesday, either the 6th or the 13th of September. Traditionally, Apple events took place on the second week of September, therefore the 13th of September would be a safe bet. Although sources claim that the first week of September is on the cards which would mean a week earlier release than previous years and Apple would be able to boost profits before the Q3 ends.

Talking about the price, the Pro models are indeed looking to be priced higher than the 2021 generation. The standard iPhone 14 models keep its starting price at £799, however the bigger non-pro model could be £100 more expensive which in return would hike the prices for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max to £1099 and £1199 respectively. So selling your iPhone makes even more sense than ever before.

Should You Get the New iPhone 14?

There are exciting changes coming with the Pro models, and if you can bear the price hike you could shortlist either the iPhone 14 Pro or the iPhone 14 Pro Max. These will aesthetically look different to the iPhone 13 Pro series which was something iPhone enthusiasts have been longing for. Those who prefer smaller iPhones won't have any other choice but to pick one of the 6.1-inch models or keep using your current iPhone, especially if you got yourself a Mini model.

If you can't be bothered with the new iPhone 14, but still want something new refurbished iPhones could be the place to look.
